Radiolaria specimens from Korsfjorden Nov 1969 - May 1971

Latest version published by Natural History Museum, University of Oslo on Sep 13, 2019 Natural History Museum, University of Oslo

This dataset is the result of a radiolarian sampling program from Korsfjorden (60.19110 N,5.23136 E), on the west coast of Norway near Bergen, that took place from November 1969 and ended in May 1971. At the sampling location the fjord depth is 670 m. The water column was divided into 100 m depth zones (100-0 m, 200-100 m, ….600-500 m, and 650-600 m) except for the deepest zone where the sampling started ca. 20 m above the mud line to avoid contamination of the net. At each sampling date all depth zones were sampled. A plankton net with 63 µm mesh opening was used. This dataset also includes the phaeodarians found in this dataset. A total of 72 species was observed. A discussion of this dataset can be found in: Bjørklund, K.R., 1974. The seasonal occurrence and depth zonation of radiolarians in Korsfjorden, Western Norway. Sarsia, 56: 13-42. An archive of this dataset, consisting of a user friendly spreadsheet and an original spreadsheet is available for download here: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3248925

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 133 records. 1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

  • Event (core)
    133
  • Occurrence
    2569

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
