Spatial and temporal data (EVENT DATA) from a total of 178 sampling events of marine benthic invertebrates from two sampling project periods: 27 events from coastal areas near Arendal and deeper parts of Skagerrak collected in June 2006 with research vessel R/V “G.M. Dannevig”. The sampling was organised by Christoffer Schander, University of Bergen. 151 events from deep areas of Skagerrak collected in May 2009 with research vessel R/V “Håkon Mosby”. The sampling was organised by Christoffer Schander, University of Bergen in collaboration with the the Swedish Species Information Centre.
This dataset is deliberately published WITHOUT OCCURRENCES. The dataset describes collaborative collecting efforts during marine expeditions. The collected material is deposited in the national university museum collections in Norway. Many of the museum specimens are not yet digitized (status per 2018) but will be linked to these datasets using the corresponding eventID when they are published in GBIF.
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 178 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Download the latest version of this resource data as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A) or the resource metadata as EML or RTF:
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

|Title||Mapping of marine benthic invertebrates in the Oslofjord and the Skagerrak: sampling data of museum collections from 1950–1955 and from recent investigations|
|Funding||The sampling and the employment of Marit E. Christiansen and Bengt O. Christiansen (1951–55) were funded by the former Norwegian Council for Science and the Humanities. The geo- referencing and digitalization of sampling stations were funded by GBIF Norway (to Kristine Dobbe). We are indebted to the late Professor Christoffer Schander, University of Bergen, for organizing the Bioskag project. We thank Petter Baardsen, Institute of Marine Research, for locating the ship’s logbooks from R/V GM Dannevig, and Jon-Arne Sneli, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, for information on sampling gear. Katrine Kongshavn, University Museum of Bergen, assisted in preparing maps, and Christian Svindseth GBIF Norway helped with the GBIF repository. This study was in part funded by the Norwegian Taxonomy Initiative through the Norwegian Biodiversity Information Centre for the project ‘Polyskag: Polychaetes in coastal areas of the Skagerrak – from early natural history to current needs of knowledge’ (project number 70184216). The personnel involved in the project:
Most of the samples were collected using triangular, Agassiz and lightweight dredges.
|Study Extent||Marine bentic sampling data from Arendal to deeper Skagerak from two expeditions in June 2006 and May 2009.|
