說明

This dataset consists of benthic fauna and features from the Vestbrona Carbonate Field and the adjacent seafloor. The Vestbrona Carbonate Field (VCF) seep site on the Norwegian continental shelf (270 m water depth) was video surveyed with the Remotely Operated Vehicle Ægir 6000 in June 2020. Using extracted images and navigation data, two georeferenced seafloor mosaics were generated and all visible features were enumerated in ArcMap (animals, substrates, litter). Three transects just outside the VCF seep were also surveyed and fauna and seafloor features in those transects were also enumerated. The data were used in Sinner et al. 2023 Frontiers in Earth Sciences 'Lack of detectable chemosynthesis at a sponge dominated subarctic methane seep.'

地理涵蓋範圍

Norwegian continental shelf (approx. 63°N, 6.5°E)

界定座標範圍 緯度南界 經度西界 [-90, -180], 緯度北界 經度東界 [90, 180]

取樣方法

Georeferenced mosaics from the VCF seep site were generated using extracted images from the Ægir 6000 remotely operated vehicle (ROV) with the camera facing downwards (perpendicular to seafloor) through the Agisoft Metashape software. All features were then digitized in ArcMap and numbers and areas were exported from ArcMap. Transects from outside the VCF seep site were based on downwards but slightly forward tilted camera on the ROV, and all features were enumerated from them. Details are in Sinner at al. 2023 Frontiers in Earth Science, 'Lack of detectable chemosynthesis at a sponge dominated subarctic methane seep.'

研究範圍 Seafloor at the Vestbrona Carbonate Field seep site (Norwegian continental shelf): 2 mosaicked areas of 679.09 sq. m and 562.97 sq. m. Seafloor adjacent to the Vestbrona Carbonate Filed seep site: 3 transects of 129.87 sq. m, 58.06 sq. m and 87.36 sq. m
