說明

Morphological and bioenergetic data for polar cod (boreogadus saida) and capelin (Mallotus villosus) collected from the Barents Sea during summer and winter (2019) and spring (2021). Dataset includes total length, total wet weight, stomach wet weight, stomach eviscerated dry weight, sex, liver wet weight, gonad wet weight and energy density in terms of dry weight for individual fish.

The Nansen Legacy is a novel and holistic Arctic research project providing integrated scientific knowledge on the rapidly changing marine climate and ecosystem. A new knowledge base is required to facilitate a sustainable management of the northern Barents Sea and adjacent Arctic Basin through the 21st century. The Nansen Legacy unites about 280 researchers, students, and technicians from ten Norwegian research institutions. The research team includes interdisciplinary arctic marine expertise within physical, chemical, and biological oceanography, as well as geologists, modelers and underwater robotic engineers. Jointly we investigate the past, present and future climate and ecosystem of the northern Barents Sea. https://arvenetternansen.com/

取樣方法

Fish were collected from trawls, with total length and weight taken on-board, and frozen until analysis in the lab. In the lab, fish were dissected and the stomach, liver and gonads weighed. The stomach was taken for other analyses, whilst liver and gonads were returned to the body cavity. Individuals were then dried, weighed and homogenized to be used in bomb calorimetry. The calorimetry resulted in the energy density per gram of dry weight for each fish.

研究範圍 Fish were collected on a transect through the Barents Sea, during 4 seasonal windows (summer and winter 2019 and early and late spring 2021) at stations north and south of the polar front in each season.
