                    <para>Finding plots
The plots used in this project were provided by Dr. Maarten J.J.E. Loonen. From previous projects a map of the island with a grid was used to find the right plots for sampling. The purpose of this division is to eventually sample every square of the grid on the island. This map was divided into 800 squares. Plots that were not sampled in previous years were identified, and a plot was set up in the middle of the square. The GPS UTM coordinates, altitude, slope angle and slope aspect were taken at each plot, and the topography was recorded for five categories (slope, ridge, valley, flat or other).

Vegetation recording
For each plot, a 50x50 centimeter frame was placed, and all species inside the frame were recorded in a species list.
